Career Fellowship - A group
for graduate and working young adults
(Mandarin and English-speaking)
Purpose: The Chinese Immanuel Church Career Fellowship is made up
of a group of graduate students and working young adults who meet weekly
and grow together in bonds of Christian love and friendship.
It was started in 2001 with the purpose to obey the biblical command in
Hebrews 10: 24-25 ~ "And let us consider how we may spur one another
on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some
are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the
more as you see the Day approaching."
We meet for a time of praise and worship through songs to our Lord,
bible reading and study, reading and discussion of Christian living and
spiritual growth books and also topic study. We have a wonderful time of
encouraging and open sharing, and we endeavor to build each other up to
love the LORD more and more in an atmosphere of relaxed fellowship and
sharing of ourselves by sharing our personal, spiritual, and daily walk.
When and Where: We have meetings every Saturday. On the 1st and 3rd
Saturdays, we meet from 7 pm to approximately 9 pm at the church meeting
hall, Education Bldg, 1st floor, the prayer meeting group. On the 2nd and
4th Saturdays, we meet in the homes of career fellowship members or the
homes of other brothers and sisters in the church who so lovingly open
their homes to host us. At these home meetings, we start our meetings at
3 pm and after the meeting, we have dinner together and try each others
home-cooking. Usually the host will provide the dinner, but each person
also can bring a little something to share. We have a very good time at
each meeting, so come join us!
Currently we are reading: THE PURPOSE-DRIVEN LIFE, by Rick Warren,
Pastor of Saddleback Church of the greater Los Angeles area, CA.
Our last book was: THE JESUS I NEVER KNEW, by Philip Yancey, Editor at
large of Christianity Today magazine and author of several Gold Medallion
Award-winning books including What's so Amazing about Grace.
