Vision: A bible believing family oriented
church that practices the calling of priesthood of believers in
the church ministries.
Mission: We seek to provide Christ-centered
teachings and environment for adults and children to grow in the
knowledge of the Lord and to be an effective witness for Christ
in our daily lives.
Why CIC is planning to build a church facility?
Do we need a facility?
Let's start with this question first, "Where would we go from
here, if our current rental arrangement is terminated?" We
have sixty days to relocate. The natural response to this question
will be "looking for another place." Renting or buying
would be the probable option.
Assuming that renting is the way to go. What kind of place should
we look for then? Ideally, we find another church. But is the building
going to be large enough to accommodate both churches at the same
time? If not, and most likely, we will have to meet on Sunday afternoon.
How far will this facility be from our current site? What effects
will be on our members, if it is too far?
If we cannot find a church building to share then the second alternative,
perhaps, is to lease an office building. How much do we have to
spend on rent? How much do we have to spend on the improvement?
Let's say we need one big hall and ten classrooms. Considering that
we use this facility only a few hours on Sunday and some weekday
nights, is this investment wise and of good stewardship? Based on
our present usage of space and the market lease rate of $0.80 per
sq-ft and a minimum of 5000sq-ft, $4000 rental is needed per month.
Third alternative could be to rent a public facility such as a
public school on Sundays.
How much will be the rent? As compared to the second alternative,
which way is more practical? Then, the next question will be, "What
are we going to do with meetings other than Sunday?" Typical
school usage as described above is at least $2500 per month and
this is only for Sunday usage.
A Long-term solution is needed.
The above questions have a lot to do with the issue of purchasing/building
a facility for our use. Two basic reasons in regard to why we should
own a building are described below:
Firstly, no matter which way we go in regards to renting, each
future change requires us to put in a lot of time and effort. A
long-term solution is indeed needed. We must understand that God
requires Christians, individually or corporately, to plan for the
future. From the Bible, we will notice that God is a God of order
and planning. God makes plans, and He works out according to His
plans. God wants us to think ahead and plan accordingly. As we dwell
on God on the planning, the Holy Spirit is going lead us in the
direction that aligns with God's plan.
